The previous setup created an ephemeral light fixture by using a medium. The medium diffuses light and reflects it towards the eyes, making the light visible. Adding more medium amplifies this effect until the moment where the medium itself starts to block the light. Understanding how this works in practice (with different types of haze and smoke) is crucial to create the intended effect. But there is more, light intensity and the density of the medium together control the visibility. As such, these two can mould a space from a public, social space to a private, personal space and back.
